RSE

Although Relationships and Health Education is now compulsory in primary schools, some schools also choose to teach some aspects sex education, as recommended by the DfE. This is primarily because it provides another layer of child protection.

Following extensive consultation with the wider school community, including staff, parents/carers and governors, at St Nicolas and St Mary's, we have decided to teach some aspects of RSE. For more details about this curriculum and how it will be taught, please read the policy below which also includes some useful frequently asked questions.

Please note that parents have the right to withdraw their child/children from sex education at primary level, although we always recommend discussing any concerns with teachers or members of the SLT first.
