Here you will find our geography curriculum map, geography milestones and our new geography 'Knowledge Organisers' detailing the journey our children make as geographers from year 1 to year 6. The many wonderful geography topics that our children study, and our passion for protecting the natural world, enthuses all pupils with a joy of geography which we hope will stay with them throughout their life.
At St Nicolas and St Mary School, we inspire children to be curious about the world in which they live. All children are encouraged to learn through observation, investigation and questioning giving them a range of geographical knowledge and skills. By exploring and learning in this way, we encourage our children to find out about the world, both physical and human, so that they can take an active part in contributing to and protecting this world as they grow up. This is at the heart of everything we do and we are proud to be an “Eco School”. Through our Eco Council, we empower our pupils to take care of their environment by taking charge of issues, which affect the environment within our school community. Our link schools in both Ethiopia and France also mean that children have the opportunity to learn about cultures and a way of life which differs from their own experience and thus widens their understanding of people and places. We hope that the children will leave our school as tolerant, knowledgeable and environmentally conscious citizens who have the skills, motivation and ambition to inspire others.
