Welcome to Geography at St Nicolas and St Mary CE Primary School!
Here you will find our geography curriculum map, geography milestones and our new geography 'Knowledge Organisers' detailing the journey our children make as geographers from year 1 to year 6. The many wonderful geography topics that our children study, and our passion for protecting the natural world, enthuses all pupils with a joy of geography which we hope will stay with them throughout their life.
Our Geography Vision
At St Nicolas and St Mary School, we aspire to give all children the knowledge and skills to be curious about and understand the world around them, including disadvantaged and/or pupils with SEND. Children are encouraged to learn through observation, investigation and questioning. We have a link school in Ethiopia, which gives the children the opportunity to learn about a different culture and way of life. By exploring and learning about other places and cultures, we aim to motivate and inspire our children to find out about their world, both physical and human, so that they can take an active part in contributing to and protecting this world as they grow up. This is at the heart of everything we do at St Nic’s as we are proud to be an “Eco School”. Through our Eco Council, we empower our pupils to take care of their environment by taking charge of issues, which affect the environment within our school community. We hope that the children will leave our school as tolerant, knowledgeable and environmentally conscious citizens who have the skills and motivation to inspire others.
