We are lucky enough to have established links with schools in both France and Ethiopia.

France

We are paired with 'Ecole Primaire Marcel Aumeran' from Plan de la Tour in the South of France. This link was first established in 2011 and has become a real highlight in Year 6. Our Year 6 pupils are assigned a pen-friend for the year. We then write or talk, via the wonders of online technology, to our French pen pals once a term. Our online chats are a great way to practice our French in action! 

 

Ethiopia

Working with the charity 'Together we Learn', we are paired with 'Azezo Teklehaimanot Elementary'.  Azezo Teklehaimanot Elementary is a small school in the Azezo community located 16km from the town Gondar, close to the airport. Most of the area’s residents are farmers so the children have to help their relatives with farming chores when not attending school.

Our Year 4 children take part in an annual project with fellow pupils from Azezo Teklehaimanot Elementary. A theme is chosen, such as playground games, and each school produces a pack of work on that theme to be sent and explored by pupils at the partner school. We always look forward to the day the post from Ethiopia arrives! 

In July 2023, we were lucky enough to have a visit from Elsa Kebede, Ethiopia Country Director for Together We Learn. She received a very warm welcome; it was fascinating to learn more about Ethiopia from her.
