School Meals

Hot Meals

Good food and good food culture has been shown to lead not only to healthier, happier and more fulfilled children, but to improved educational attainment. Hot meals at our school are provided by Chartwells.  The school orders hot meals for children in Reception, Year 1 or Year 2 and for those children in Year 3 and above who are eligible for free school meals.  Parents/carers can order meals for children in Year 3 or above through the Chartwells Meal Selector website.

Menu Choice

Chartwells order in a selection of items from the menu to achieve the total quantity of meals required on a daily basis, with the aim of meeting dietary needs, minimising waste and providing choice where possible.  Jacket potatoes are part of this order.  We respectfully ask parents and children to consider all the menu choices for each day as we are not able to guarantee a child will get their first choice from the menu.  If parents have further queries concerning menu choice please contact the Chartwells office on 73041@compass-group.co.uk.

Special Diets: Allergy/intolerance, Faith Meals, Vegetarian, Vegan or Pescatarian Diets

Please inform Chartwells straightaway if your child requires a special diet by printing and completing the Special Diet Request Form (see link on the right) and following the instructions.  Pupils will not require a special diet menu for nut allergies as these children can be fed from the standard menu.  Menus for faith meals, vegetarian, vegan and pescatarian diets are available to view on the Chartwells website: www.mealselector.co.uk.  Children requiring a special diet meal will wear a coloured wristband during the lunch break to help Chartwells staff identify them.  Special diet enquiries should be sent to westsussexspecialdiets@compass-group.co.uk

How to Order and Pay for meals

Parents can register their children in Year 3 and above for hot meals via the Chartwell's Meal Selector website www.mealselector.co.uk.   You will find full instructions on how to register and order meals on the website.  Meal orders can be made online at any time up until cut off time of midnight on Sunday – 7 days before the full week in which the meal is to be served.   Hot meals cost £2.35 each which is paid when the booking is made.

Free School Meals

Universal Infant Free School Meals

Children  in Reception, Year 1 and Year 2 are entitled to free school meals.

Free School Meals and the Pupil Premium

If your child is in Year 3 and above they may still be eligible to receive free school meals which could save you more than £450 a year, as well as providing £1320 additional funding to the school via Pupil Premium funding.  The Government is giving money to schools to help children from lower income families do their very best.  No one will know you have registered and it will not affect any other benefits you are claiming.  Children entitled to free school meals will automatically receive a meal, regardless of their year group, once confirmation of their entitlement has been received.

This money is essential in supporting all that the school wishes to provide for pupils!  Please talk to us about registering your child today.
